Game 1:  Hanover-Horton 9 - Homer 7

Amanda Ley drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Comets past the Trojans 9-7 on Monday. Ley hit a home run in the sixth inning, scoring three runs, while also doubling in the fourth inning, scoring one.

The girls didn't take the lead until later in the game.  They were down 7-6 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Ley homered to left field.

Homer opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. The Comets jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the second inning after McKinzie Fox hit a sacrifice fly, Bryn Biela singled to center field, and Kendall Bevier singled, each scoring one run.

With the score tied in the fourth, the Comets broke the tie game when Ley doubled, followed by a walk by Holly Zantop to extend the lead 6-4.  Homer then took the lead back in the sixth 7-6. The Comets finally pulled ahead for good when Ley hit the big three run homer in the sixth.  The game concluded with a tremendous double play started by Collins deGlee.  Ley got the win in the pitcher's circle for the game.

The Comets showed a lot of patience at the plate, drawing 10 walks, with Ley and Ava Smith earning two each.

Game 2: Hanover-Horton 5 - Homer 11

In game two, the Comets couldn't quite keep up with the Trojans.  The Comets were first on the board when Bryn Biela drew a walk, scoring one run.

Holly Zantop led Hanover-Horton with two hits. Biela and Kendall Bevier each drove in one run for the game.  Ava Smith took the loss for the Comets, who travel to Michigan Center on Wednesday for a DH against the Cardinals.
