Alexyn DuBois hit two home runs and drove in four as Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets defeated Quincy 15-0 on Tuesday. DuBois homered in the first and first innings.
DuBois struck out 10 batters on the day. The starter also gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings while walking two.
Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after DuBois homered to center field, scoring two runs, Halle Swihart drew a walk, scoring one run, Holly Zantop singled, scoring two runs, Brooklyn Biela drew a walk, scoring one run, Ava Smith singled, scoring one run, DuBois homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Swihart homered to left field, scoring three runs.
A walk by DuBois extended the Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets lead to 13-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets added one run in the third after Biela walked.
Davica S took the loss for Quincy. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering 12 runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking five.
Zantop and DuBois each collected two hits for Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets. Swihart and DuBois each drove in four runs for Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets. Amanda Ley earned the win for Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets. The righty surrendered six hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking one. Taylor L took the loss for Quincy. The hurler went three innings, surrendering six runs on six hits, striking out none and walking five.
