GAME 1

Hanover-Horton 8, Quincy 5

In the bottom of the sixth, the Hanover-Horton Comets broke the tie when Brady Pond singled, scoring three runs. Then a ground out by Luke Soper followed to extend the lead to 8-4.

Soper stepped on the hill first for the Comets. The starter surrendered two hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking four. Jack Wooster appeared in relief for Hanover-Horton.

Adam Ley, Braylon Sayles, Aiden Zeffries, Cameron Sherwood, Wooster and Pond each collected one hit for the Comets. Sherwood, Soper and Pond each drove in one run.  Sayles led the team with three walks.  Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game.  Wooster and Sayles each stole multiple bases for the Comets, who ran wild on the basepaths, collecting six stolen bases for the game.

The team relied heavily on Sayles, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Sherwood, who went 1-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hanover-Horton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quincy only posted an OBP of .343.

GAME 2

Hanover-Horton 10, Quincy 5

Cameron Sherwood collected three hits in three at bats as Hanover-Horton defeated Quincy 10-5 in five innings in the second half of a double header Tuesday evening. Sherwood singled in both the second and third innings, and doubled in the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Comets took the lead for good after Channing Hull doubled down the left field line, Blake Griffis singled down the left field line, Brady Pond grounded out, and Jack Wooster singled up the middle, each scoring one run.

The Comets scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning.  An error scored one run, Austin Leonard singled, scoring one run, and Pond doubled, scoring three runs.

Hull pitched three innings in relief for Hanover-Horton. The hurler surrendered three hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out three and walking five.  Braylon Sayles led things off on the mound for the Comets. The righty allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking one. 

Hanover-Horton amassed 12 hits in the game. Pond went 1-4 at the plate and led the team with three RBIs. Wooster and Griffis each collected multiple hits for the Comets.

Hanover-Horton will hit the road for their next game when they travel to Northwest to play the Mounties at 4:00 on Friday.
