Hanover-Horton fell 6-2 to Northwest in Game 1 on Friday despite out-hitting them nine to seven. Cameron Sherwood, Jack Wooster and Braylon Sayles each collected two hits for the Comets.
The Comets got on the board first in the first inning when Sherwood singled, scoring one run.
An error gave Northwest the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the third.
Wooster stepped on the bump first for Hanover-Horton. The righty surrendered three hits and two runs (zero earned) over three innings striking out two and walking three.
The Comets tallied nine hits in the game. Sherwood and Wooster each drove in one run for the Comets, while Sayles stole two bases.
In game two, Adam Ley, Blake Griffis and Austin Leonard combined for four of the team's eight hits for the victory.
Both teams were strong on the mound. Comet pitchers struck out four, while the Mounties sat down three.

Sherwood went 1-3 at the plate and led the team with one RBI. Jack Wooster and Ley each collected two hits for Hanover-Horton. The Comets also turned one double play in the game. The team was sure-handed throughout the game and didn't commit a single error. Luke Soper had the most chances in the field with five.
The Comets will host East Jackson on Monday at 4:00 in the Cascades Conference opener.
