Both Leslie and Hanover-Horton were strong on the mound in game one on Monday, but the Comets defeated the Blackhawks 2-0. Luke Soper started the game for Hanover-Horton and recorded all 21 outs.
Soper struck out 13 batters on the day. The starter only gave up one hit while walking none.
A single by Brady Pond on an 0-2 count put H-H on the board in the top of the second.
Pond, the number eight hitter, let the Comets with two hits in three at bats. Lukas NaDell and Pond each drove in one run a piece. The Comets stole five bases on the game, with Jack Wooster stealing two of them.
In game two, the bottom of the lineup helped the Comets capture a come-from-behind 5-4 victory over Leslie. Adam Ley, Blake Griffis and Brady Pond combined for five of the team's 10 hits. They scored two runs and drove in one.
The Comets didn't take the lead until late in the game. It was tied in the bottom of the sixth when Jack Wooster singled, driving in Pond for the go ahead run.
Wooster led things off on the hill for the Comets. The righty surrendered seven hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking three.
Hanover-Horton collected 10 hits in the game. Braylon Sayles provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Comets with two runs batted in. The shortstop went 3-4 on the day. Griffis and Pond each collected multiple hits for the Comets, while Sayles stole three bases.
Defensively, the Comets didn't commit a single error in the field, with Channing Hull having the most chances with five.
The Comets play again on Thursday in a DH at Addison High School.
