Luke Soper drove in four runs on three hits to lead Hanover-Horton past Sand Creek in game one of a twin bill by the score of 15-2. Soper singled in the second, tripled in the third and doubled in the fourth driving in a total of four runs.
The Comets took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Channing Hull and Brady Pond walked--each scoring one run.
Hanover-Horton extended their lead with seven runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Soper, Cameron Sherwood, Pond, Austin Leonard, Adam Ley and Lukas NaDell.
The Comets added to their lead in the bottom of the third after Soper tripled to center field and Sherwood grounded out each scoring a run.
Jack Wooster started the game on the hill for the Comets and allowed two runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out eight and walking none.
The Comets accumulated 12 hits in the game. Sherwood and Soper each drove in four runs, and the team amassed nine walks. Hull and Pond reached base by walks twice each, and the defense was spotless with zero errors.
Game two saw Brady Pond collect three hits in four at bats for the Comets as they defeated Sand Creek by a score of 12-3. Pond doubled in the third, singled in the fourth and singled in the sixth.
Hanover-Horton scored nine runs in the third inning on their way to a big victory. Jack Wooster doubled, Braylon Sayles tripled, Luke Soper singled and Pond doubled each driving in a run a piece while Channing Hull doubled in the inning driving in two runs. An error also scored two runs for the home team.
Hull started the game on the bump for Hanover-Horton giving up three runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out six and walked three. Weston Dick tossed the final two innings of shutout ball, allowing no hits while striking out two and walking one.
The Comets piled up 15 hits in the game. Hull and Pond each drove in two runs, while Wooster, Soper and Blake Griffis each collected multiple hits.
Next up for the Comets is a doubleheader against Lumen Christi on Saturday morning.
