Your Comets hosted the Columbia Central Golden eagles on Friday night in a cascades conference showdown.   The Comets started the game a bit slow but found themselves up 7-3 early in the first quarter.    Columbia surged behind former Comet Derek Sanders taking the lead to end the quarter and  holding it most of the game.    The Comets however kept things close behind the defensive play of Channing Hull and JJ Russ.   Trailing by 8 in the 4th quarter the Comets were able to find a spark defensively to ignite their offense. After an old fashioned 3 point play by Luke Soper cutting the lead to 1, Jack Wooster gave the Comets the first lead since the 1st quarter with a 3 pointer in the next possession.    Up 38-36 with 1:51 to go the Comets were able to get another stop and finish them off at the Free throw line coming away with a 45-40 win and current First place tie in the Cascades west.   The Comets now 8-5 (7-2)  in the conference will travel next Tuesday to Michigan Center as they take on the 11-2 (8-1) Cardinals.
