The Comets Varsity football team opened their 2024 season with a dominant 54 to 0 road victory against the Monroe Jefferson Bears Friday night.

Austyn Hocter opened the scoring with rushing touchdowns of 24 and 33 yards, on his way to three total touchdowns on the evening. Reed Matthews added a fumble recovery touchdown early in the second quarter that gave the Comets a 20 point lead after the Layne Saari extra point, and they never looked back. 

Luke Soper had a rushing and passing touchdown to Lukas Nadell, while Jack Wooster and Ledger Inman added rushing touchdowns to cap off a total team win. 

Most impressively, the team defense allowed the Bears only one first down all game, and negative 50 total rushing yards. 

The Comets will travel to Michigan Center this upcoming Friday to renew their trophy game against the Cardinals for the first time since beating them on a last-second touchdown pass in 2022.
