The Comets Varsity football team kept it rolling Friday evening with a 51 to 0 victory over Vandercook Lake. This was their third shutout on the year, tying the current school record for shutouts in a season. 

Along with the shutouts, the Comets defense has also been able to score points themselves in 5 of 6 games this season, and this week Wyatt Ashworth tallied a tackle for a safety midway through the second quarter to give the Comets a 16-0 lead.

Six of seven Comet ballcarriers scored touchdowns on offense, lead by Kolin Griffiths’ 104 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. JJ Russ added his first rushing touchdown of the season and totaled 65 yards. 

The pass attack was able to strike early in the third quarter, as well, with a 24 yard touchdown pass from Luke Soper to Jaxon Johnson. 

Jack Wooster recovered a fumble and added a fourth quarter rushing touchdown, and Connor Willbee put the finishing touches on the win, securing a late fumble caused by Adam Ley in Vandercook Lake’s last possession. 

The Comets move to 3 and 0 in the Cascades West with two remaining conference games. They will travel to Addison to take on the Panthers this Friday evening at 7pm.
