The Varsity Football team was once again victorious this past Friday evening. Another standout defensive performance lead the Comets to a 42 to 0 win over opposing Addison. This marked the team’s fourth shutout for the season, setting a new school record.

Seven Comet defenders had five or more tackles against the Addison rushing attack—Braden Cogan and Reed Matthews lead the defensive line with five and six tackles, respectively. Middle linebacker Levi Teachout added eight tackles, and Adam Ley tallied a total of 19 tackles on the evening. Cornerbacks JJ Russ had seven and Luke Soper eight as the Comets only allowed an average of three yards per carry on the Panthers 44 rush attempts for the game. 

The Comets offense scored a total of five rushing touchdowns and struck the end zone once through the air in the game. The rushing attacked amassed over 200 yards for the sixth time this season, anchored by center Bryant Hamisfar, guards Wyatt Ashworth and Weston Dick, and tackles Adam Ley and Reed Matthews. 

The team returns home, this Friday, to take on Columbia Central for Senior Night. Fill the stands, be loud, and support your Comets!
