Your Comets Varsity football team were once again victorious this past Friday evening, beating a tough-nosed Jonesville team 21 to 18. 

The offense was rolling early, leading to two rushing touchdowns, one each from AJ Fielder and Austyn Hocter, giving the Comets a 14 to 0 lead in the second quarter. 

Luke Soper intercepted a Jonesville pass with less than a minute to play in the first half and set a new school record by returning the interception 98 yards for a touchdown. 

The three touchdown first half for your Comets would prove to be just enough to hold on to the victory while battling a motivated Jonesville team in the second half. 

The Comets secured their victory after giving up a safety in favor of the free kick, which Layne Saari used to flip the field and pin Jonesville deep in their own territory. The defense stood up to the test when it mattered most, and helped move the team to 4-0. 

This Friday the Comets return home to host the Homer Trojans in the homecoming matchup of Cascades West foes. Pack the bleachers and be loud!
